Abby McCrea is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in empowering and teaching adolescents, adults, and families that recovering from an eating disorder is possible. Additionally, she helps individuals and families affected by anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, and other emotional/behavioral issues learn how to build on their strengths, discover tools and develop skills needed to improve their relationships and quality of life.
Abby’s goal as a therapist is to provide clients with a safe environment to navigate the complexities of today’s stressors. Her style is highly collaborative and relational, and integrates complementary styles of therapy to offer a personalized approach tailored to each client.
With over 11 years of experience as a therapist in a variety of areas including inpatient residential centers, therapeutic homes, schools, hospitals, community centers, groups, family and individual therapy, and with extensive training in psychodynamic, solution-focused and narrative therapy, Abby currently works with a wide range of clients.
Outside of her practice, she is passionate about educating teachers, coaches, youth leaders, and parents about the complexities of eating problems and the possibilities to create new opportunities for recovery. Abby speaks nationally on the topics of eating disorders and athletes, eating disorder education, deconstructing social ideals of body image, spirituality and the rituals of eating problems, and identity development among teenagers in life transitions.
Abby received her M.S. from Fuller Theological Seminary.
